Bromium, Inc., a software solutions provider that makes enterprise
endpoints secure by design, today announced the first independent
security validation of its vSentry software for Windows
desktops. In test results just published by NSS Labs, Bromium vSentry
protected endpoints from every attack, confirming that Bromium
vSentry sets a new industry standard for endpoint security.
NSS
Labs testing verified that Bromium vSentry managed to defeat and
automatically remediate all attacks, including 166 embedded exploits
delivered via email to Microsoft Outlook®, 153 drive-by attacks
delivered via HTTP and HTTPS, and 15 advanced attacks using the
Metasploit penetration testing toolset that incorporated advanced
obfuscation and evasion techniques in an attempt to bypass protection.
“This is the first public test in our new Threat Isolation
group test, using our new Security Stack Test Harness,” said Ken
Baylor, Research VP at NSS Labs. “The Stack Test Harness allows
NSS to accurately determine the level of protection offered by the
industry’s leading security products as measured against active
penetration attempts by actual threat actors. Tests conducted with
Bromium vSentry showed that the software was able to defeat 100
percent of the attacks launched against an otherwise unprotected
Windows 7 desktop.”
vSentry is built on the Bromium Microvisor
– a security-focused hypervisor designed to automatically,
instantly and invisibly hardware-isolate each vulnerable Microsoft
Windows task in a micro-VM that is
prevented from modifying Windows or gain access to enterprise data
or network infrastructure. Whenever a task isolated with vSentry
attempts to access files, networks, devices, the clipboard, or
interact with the user, the hardware interrupts execution and passes
control to the Microvisor, which enforces task- specific policies on a
strictly “need-to- know” basis.
The New York
Stock Exchange is among the growing number of large enterprise and
government organizations that attest to the power of vSentry.
“vSentry
is an intriguing product because of its unique ability to isolate
and analyze the potential impact of very real attacks on your
network,” said Sunil Seshadri, SVP & Chief Information Security
Officer at NYSE Euronext. “It's almost like performing
preventative forensics, which is a very innovative capability, and
incredibly valuable in today's carefully guarded corporate
networks.”
“The independent findings of NSS Labs, as
well as the feedback we receive from customers, all validate the
unmatched protection of Bromium’s hardware-enabled isolation
technology integrated into the innovative, lightweight design of
vSentry,” said Franklyn Jones, Vice President of Marketing at
Bromium. “Bromium continues to deliver on its vision of a
profoundly more secure enterprise endpoint, while simultaneously
enabling IT to empower end-users to access the web and
untrustworthy content with a safe, non-disruptive user experience.“
